River Ancholme clear up begins

Section: Ancholme

2009 aug 13

There has been a lot of "hot air" created by discussions around clearing up the River Ancholme. A couple of years back there was even a "summit" held between North Lincs Council and the Environment Agency to decide who should clear it up. Result of all this: nada.

Last week a group of volunteers got into a boat and cleared the section of the river Ancholme which stretches from the Milennium Green to the County Bridge. The crew of three included two well known figures: Cllr Carl Sherwood and Mr Andrew Percy (Cons parliamentary candidate). The team removed fifteen bags of rubbish in total.

Update: Yesterday Carl and Nigel Sherwood took out another six bags of rubbish.

Ed: Refreshing to see people literally "getting their hands dirty" ... (rather than the usual talking-shop of local politics).
