2010 nov 12 EMAIL Graham C Marshall 2010nov12 Hello Ed., In 1959 my Aunt and Uncle, Eileen and Reg Marshall, had the Woolpack. I was a fairly frequent visitor (bearing in mind the pre-bridge journey) and spent many happy hours soaking up the atmosphere of the cattle market. One day I went fishing on the banks of the Ancholme with my younger brother, David, and our cousin, Neil Marshall; son of Eileen and Reg. Eileen and Reg also had a daughter, Linda. The attached photograph is of the three of us and was taken by a press photographer who happend upon us. The caption that accompanied the photograph read something like: "On a days fishing by the Ancholme are Graham Marshall of Willerby near Hull and his cousin Neil Marshall of Brigg. Graham's younger brother, David, is pictured with his guitar as he charms the fish out of the water."
Neil's friend at the time was Wallace Howson (?). It's hardly a scoop but I hope that this is of some interest. Best regards, Graham C. Marshall Ed replies: It's a great picture, Graham. Thanks for sending it in. It reminds me of a very similar picture of my two older brothers and myself - also in black and white. Other pictures, historical or not, of Brigg or Brigg people are always welcome. Send them in by email in jpg/jpeg format. |
