£700,000 flood prevention fund
2011 feb 5 Andrew Percy MP has announced in the Jan/Feb Conservative "intouch" newsletter that the coalition government will be allocating over £700,000 to do work to prevent flooding in northern Lincolnshire. This follows on from a meeting with Richard Benyon MP - the minister responsible for flooding. The government is planning to get the local councils to "spend the money wisely" over the coming four years on flood defences. Ed. While this news is very welcome in view of the flooding risk associated with this area, there was one worrying "Freudian slip" in the report in the intouch newsletter: "North Lincs will receive over £700,000 never the next four years". Hopefully this "never" is only a typo and not indicative of policy ... |
