The People's Pledge

Local MPs Andrew Percy and Martin Vickers (Barton) have both expressed support for a campaign called "The People's Pledge" - reports thisisscunthorpe.co.uk.

The People's Pledge campaign aims to get a referendum to decide if the UK should stay in or leave the EU. The strategy of the campaign is to ask voters at the next general election to only vote for candidates who support the organisers' views on holding a referendum.

Mr Percy is quoted as saying: "I will be voting in a referendum to leave the EU." However, he went on to say: "Personally, I think that referendums don't necessarily sit well in our constitution"
