Water's Edge Country Park attracts rare visitor

Waters' Edge Country Park in Barton has attracted a rare visitor that appears to have wondered off course - an Egyptian Goose.

They normally live on the Norfolk coast and don't usually stray so far north.

He's currently sat among the Greylag Geese near the visitor centre - info about the species: http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/e/egyptiangoose/index.aspx

Christine Edwards, Tourism and Town Centre Manager for North Lincolnshire Council, said: "We couldn't believe our luck when we saw the bird. A visitor told us it's an Egyptian Goose and is about 100 miles away from where they are normally sighted. It's wonderful, and I'm sure will attract many keen twitchers and visitors wanting to see the bird. It seems to be settling in nicely among our greylag geese, but I'm not sure how long it will stay. Hopefully long enough to enjoy the Jubilee celbrations!"
