Broughton Woods lies around 3 miles from Brigg, Lincolnshire. It is one of the last remaining stands of the ancient Lincolnshire Woodlands. Recently, the Broughton Woods have come to the attention of the national news when a controversial plan to fell a large proportion of the ancient woods and replace the trees with an extension to a golf course. Currently at the time of writing a public enquiry held by North Lincolnshire Council is underway to determine if the planned destruction of the woods may go ahead.
