Children's TV presenter helps raise funds for Hearing Dogs in Lincolnshire

Section: Charity appeals

2011 may 18

Bubbly children's TV presenter Naomi Wilkinson is encouraging children in Lincolnshire to 'dress to impress or dress to excess' and raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a national charity that trains dogs to alert their deaf owners to every day sounds that hearing people take for granted.

Naomi explains what it's all about "Hearing Dogs are encouraging schools across Lincolnshire to take part in their 'Togs for Dogs' campaign by holding a non-uniform day on 10th June 2011. Children can either dress up or wear 'doggy' themed outfits to school. The charity have also created 'Togs for Dogs' activity packs, designed around National Curriculum guidelines for children aged 4 - 16. The pack not only contains educational information about hearing, but also includes lots of fun activities to choose from like a puppy picnic, an agility sports day, sign a song, design a non-uniform coat for a hearing dog and many more".

Naomi, who recently presented the exciting Saturday morning show Live 'n' Deadly for the BBC explains why she has decided to support Togs for Dogs 2011: "Togs for Dogs is such a fabulous idea as it helps to improve children's understanding of deafness and deaf communication techniques in such a fun and creative way - I'm really happy to be involved in promoting Togs for Dogs 2011".

Hearing Dogs first launched 'Togs for Dogs' in 2003, and since then the scheme has raised important awareness throughout hundreds of schools, as well as raising vital funds for the Charity's work helping deaf people.

The packs also have a fundraising section which gives information about the Charity and also some exciting fundraising ideas and are available free of charge on CD upon request at togsfordogs@hearingdogs.org.uk or contact your local Hearing Dogs for Deaf People Community Fundraising Manager Lucy Nalton on 01759 322255 or lucy.nalton@hearingdogs.org.uk
