Filey lifeboat's busiest year

2010 feb 1 2009 was the busiest year yet for the RNLI with the launches of lifeboats nationally at record levels - reports the Filey Mercury - and at Filey Brigg launches went up from 34 launches in 2008 to 46 in 2009. According to the RNLI spokesman this increase in launches is most likely to be associated with the increase in the number of holidays (staycations) taken in the UK. The two most important causes for launches at Filey Brigg were people being caught out by the tide and also getting into difficulties on inflatables.
