Kim Perez, Florida

2011 feb 5

A former Brigg woman, Kim Perez, had become so fed up with her career serving in a chemist's shop that she decided to change her image and find a well-heeled partner in the USA, reports the Daily Mail's Femail section.

Kim had got to her 40s and had broken up with her first husband. She was in need of a change from life in Brigg, so she decided to improve her image and go on the hunt for an eligible new partner.

Firstly she took elocution lessons - because she thought that: "Northern accents make people assume you're stupid and working class".

Next, she learnt as much as she could about the way rich people lived, what they did, how they behaved and many other things so that she would be able to fit in to their lifestyle.

Thirdly, Kim spruced up her wardrobe by going on a budget shopping spree on eBay, where she brought top designer clothes and accessories at bargain prices.

The final step in her plan was to register with a website specialising in putting Americans in touch with people in the UK. A blind date in New York followed, which lead on to a marriage proposal, marriage to her millionaire husband David and a life of luxury in Florida.

A year to change your life: not bad going, Kim!
