BE AMAZED AT WHAT CHILDREN CAN ACHIEVE IN JUST ONE WEEK!

The last week of the school holidays is fast approaching, and for one Grimsby school, it can't come soon enough! Stagecoach Theatre School will be running it's annual summer workshops starting this Monday 16th August and School Principal Diana Whitworth has spent most of the summer holidays preparing for them. Weeks spent looking for just the right scripts, preparing the music scores, making props and costumes and receiving applications from dozens of children wanting to take part, will all come to fruition when the workshop starts next week.

This is Stagecoach Grimsby's 11th year of providing performing arts training for the regions youngsters and this year's summer workshop for the Seniors has proved to be extremely popular. 'Annie' is the musical adaptation by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, of a comic strip chronicling the exploits of 'Little Orphan Annie'. Always a hit with the girls, Diana says "Please don't think that this is just one for the girls - there are lots of roles for boys too. The show is filled with catchy songs, challenging choreography and lots of comedy along the way".

The Junior workshop, for 4 to 7 year olds, is the traditional tale 'The Emperor's New Clothes' and the children are looking forward to starting rehearsals. Sumptuous costumes and regal furnishings, flag-waving crowd scenes, a vain Emperor and a totally 'away with the fairies' Queen all feature in this very funny show.

Diana says, " Of course there is a lot of hard work put into the preparation of such an event but the real hard work is done by the pupils and teachers during the workshop week. You don't have to be a Stagecoach student to come to a Stagecoach Holiday Workshop -- to learn the lines, sing the songs, throw yourself into the dance routines -- and rehearse a show to put on before your family and friends! The result is a fabulous week full of fun and enjoyment - boosting confidence levels and making new friends"

The performances, for family and friends will take place at 12noon on Friday 20th Aug (Emperor's New Clothes) and Annie! will start at 6pm later the same day.
