Email: Ernie - Subject: Chickens - Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2012 21:16 Hi ed Just wondered if you could help me. I know quite a few years back my late father use to go to a Brigg livestock auction where they auctioned off chickens. I just wonder if you know the name of the road where it was held and if its still goes on in Brigg. I remember it use to be on a Thursday. I want to buy a few chickens for fresh eggs. If the auction isn't there anymore do you know where I can get some live chickens from. Thanks Ernesto - Scunthorpe Ed repliesHi Ernesto, There wasn't really a "road" as such. The market was held behind the site of the former livestock auction. This site is now occupied by Tesco's Brigg store. Stennet's market, which used to be held on the Tesco site has now moved to land by the Brigg railway station. Chickens - and other livestock - are still auctioned there on Thursday mornings early. Best regards and happy chicken hunting, Ed ! |
