Brigg Park, North Lincolnshire
Sunday, 19th September 2004
This park is one of the "hidden treasures" of Brigg and is well worth a visit. It is situated within easy walking distance of the town centre of Brigg at the end of Station Road, and is popular with dog walkers and is a pleasant place to have a picnic - or just to have a relaxing stroll.

Parts of the parkland are a little overgrown now, which gives a "breathing space" for wildlife in the heart of the town. As you walk along the rough paths amongst the trees you can usually hear the sound of birdsong.

Here is a short soundclip of birdsong in the trees of Brigg Park. The clip was recorded on a fine September morning. The rushing you can hear in the background is the sound of the autumn gales blowing through the treetops.

This park was formerly a place of contemplation for the nearby nunnery on land gifted by the Elwes family and is now held by North Lincolnshire Council for the benefit of all the citizens of Brigg as a public "green open space".
