Here at O'Brien's Ophthalmic Optician's in Brigg we pride ourselves in providing a professional service. This includes a full eye examination by our Optometrist Mr Sheeraz A. Janjua BSc(Hons) MCOptom, who is registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).

New services: O'Briens now offer domiciliary home visits to those patients who are housebound or cannot attend the surgery. There is no cost for the visit. A new video imaging system has been installed which means that it is very much easier to see how you will look from all angles in your new glasses.

All spectacles are dispensed by our trained staff according to the prescription issued by Mr. Janjua. This ensures peace of mind for the patient as they can be sure that they are being provided with exactly what Mr. Janjua has prescribed, and if any issues did arise with regards to the comfort in vision with new spectacles, Mr. Janjua is available to double check things.

Once ordered, all spectacles and contact lenses go through rigorous quality control checks by fully trained and qualified staff at internationally recognised, professional glazing and manufacturing facilities to ensure all British and European standards are met.

Upon collection, spectacles are fitted by a member of staff, and can be readjusted as part of our committed continuity of care at a later date should the need arise.

O'Brien's Ophthalmic Opticians on Wrawby Street Brigg, has been offering patients a high-class service for over 26 years. Now operating under a new owner, Optometrist Mr Sheeraz A. Janjua BSc(Hons) MCOptom, who believes that O'Briens has so much more to offer now it has changed from being Dispensing to Ophthalmic Opticians, treating both NHS and private patients.

"I perform eye tests all year round, which means I can offer people the continuity of care that they didn't have previously. So our patients see the same person every time." said Mr Janjua, who takes pride in providing the highest possible standards of qualified eye care and dispensing service.

Practice manager Jacqui Edwards has worked at O'Brien's for 16 years and Mr. Janjua was pleased to continue her employment, along with optical assistant, Anne Pope who has been there for 6 years. Two additional members of staff were hand-picked by Mr. Janjua to join the team - Lindsay Vickery and lane Palmer, both of whom are optically trained.

A new ramp access has been added to the practice so people with mobility difficulties can find O'Brien's fully accessible especially as they can be dropped off or picked up right outside the door. Also, all areas of the practice are on one floor, so there are no stairs to climb. Recently the practice was equipped with a portable induction loop to amplify the sound for those with hearing impairment.

The services provided at the practice are always improving "We are now accredited to offer Diabetic Screening and can therefore send prompt reports to patients doctors about how the condition is affecting their eyesight. We see most diabetic patients within a week and provide them with a full eye examination and can therefore also supply them with new spectacles." said Mr Janjua.

Other specialist services available include colour vision and visual field testing, as well as screening for many conditions that can affect the eye such as age-related macular degeneration, cataract and glaucoma. Low vision assessments are now also being performed with low vision (magnification) aids dispensed for the very poorly sighted.

Nutritional vitamin supplements such as 'ICAPS' and 'Visionace' are supplied by Mr. Janjua to help maintain healthy eyes, as are the revolutionary 'Systane' lubricating drops for dry, gritty, sore or tired feeling eyes.

The contact lens side of the practice is very popular as Mr. Janjua can prescribe and dispense a wide selection of daily, monthly, yearly disposable as well as coloured contact lenses.

O'Brien's supply all brands of varifocals, however they highly recommend the KODAK Precise Lens and KODAK Concise Lens designs for maximum 'natural' vision. These varifocals come with a three-month comfort guarantee so you can be sure they are best for you.

Quality designer eyewear from Jaguar, Mexx, Oliver Goldsmith and lately Playboy and frames with Swarovski Crystals also available, as well as a large selection of sunglasses. These frames complement the type of lenses available from O'Brien's such as the thinner and lighter ones. Mr. Janjua also takes time in demonstrating the benefits of ultra-violet protected, scratch resistant, antireflection and light-reactive lenses. The wide spectrum of choice means there is a broad price range so everyone should be able to find a pair of spectacles to suit their pocket and their personal needs.
