Brigg Horse FairHorse Fair in Trouble!Monday, 3 May 2004 Just as you thought that the Horse Fair was safe, an obstacle has occurred which makes it more difficult to go ahead. The land that had been offered on Mill Lane was assumed to have a space nearby for buses to turn around upon. Unfortunately this assumption proved to be false and the search is on for a new home. This has focussed attention once again on the Atherton Way Industrial Estate. Part of this land - which has stood empty since the days of Humberside County Council - is now due to be re-developed as a school and housing (see Brigg North Development). This may be a possible solution for this year. Whatever happens, the absence of a fixed home for the Horse Fair, makes it more difficult - and expensive - to police the event. |
