Brigg Life: Life in the market town of Brigg, Lincolnshire, UK.

Welcome to the new format Brigg Life website. Brigg Life is now in its tenth year, and we here thought that it was time for a "spring clean" and a bit of a "freshen up". This update is not yet complete and will continue over the coming weeks. We hope that you like the new layout and content.

Divorce & Separation - Things you should know
Figures published by the Office for National Statistics in December show that the divorce rate for the UK has risen for the first time since 2003. The figures for 2010 show a rise of 5% overall, with divorces most common for couples in their early 40s, and a big rise in the number of over 60s. Even if one or both of the parties are keen to settle without acrimony, the cost of divorce is a concern for everyone, but there are ways to take charge and to control costs.
A new news service: BriggRecord.co.uk
BriggRecord.co.uk is a news website which launched at the end of January 2012. The website has been set up by former journalism student James Martin and Josh France. Josh and James were in the Brigg marketplace "pressing the flesh" and distributing promotional leaflets.
Brigg Life, The Scunthorpe Telegraph & briggpeople.co.uk
A statement from the editor of Brigg Life. It has come to my attention that the Scunthorpe Telegraph has created a new feature entitled: "Brigg life in association with briggpeople.co.uk". I would like to state in the strongest possible terms that Brigg Life / www.brigglife.co.uk - which has been trading under the brand identity of "Brigg Life" since 2002 - has no connection whatsoever with the Scunthorpe Telegraph nor has an "association" with briggpeople.co.uk.
The hammer in hand/the butchery/elwes street
It was Brigg's General Purposes Committee that changed the name from The Butchery to the more acceptable Elwes Street during an Act of Parliament in 1869 -- the then Lords of the Manor, the Elwes Family (the upper crust) favoured this because they were building 'better class' properties for rent on their land in that area, conveniently using bricks from their own brickworks!
Art Students' Work Showcased at Scunthorpe Museum
The work of more than 60 Art students at John Leggott College is currently being showcased at an exhibition held at Scunthorpe Museum after spending time on personal projects that were inspired by a trip to Spurn Point.
Brigg Singers spring song
Brigg Singers are making a bold new start to 2012 by setting up their own website. The website - which is currently under construction - is located at: www.briggsingers.org.uk and will, when complete, contain information about the singing group.

Fight the Christmas bulge and make completing the world's biggest half marathon your goal for 2012! Family feel is key to store's future success
A major store in Brigg is about to reveal a big facelift to customers - and a new family feel. United Carpets at Monument Works, Bigby Road, has new owners in the shape of John West and his daughter Catherine, and they have big plans for the store.
