Desperados

Yes, it's hard to believe but there is crime here in Hull too ... What? You say in alarm: How can that be? But it is.

Last night someone tried to break into my car. They even succeeded to get in, proceeded to wrench the steering column around, yet didn't manage to take it walkies. Trusty British engineering: the scumazzi of Hull are no match for it.

Has it shaken my confidence in the goodness of my fellow man? No of course not. I've just got some 60mm chain and a padlock. To steal it now they'd have to dismantle the car. It's a policy of trust but taking no chances.

Anyway: what is this joy riding? My little Austin Metro wouldn't have been much source of joy when it was new, but now it would hardly merit a wry-smile ... Now, I know that there are some desperados around!
