Indeed. 1 hour 37 minutes of tour de force from Jean Luc Goddard had left us all gobsmacked and struck dumb. Actually that's the same thing but if a thing is worth saying once it worth saying twice.

I think that I would have been less confused if there hadn't been any subtitles. The intention being by going to the film to improve my French: the effect being, however, to improve my confusion.

What did it mean? Did it in fact mean anything? Was it just a gratuitious pop at the USA and the UK? Did it extend our understanding of ... whatever it was about??

Jean Luc - good one, my son. You've wreaked a terrible revenge for Waterloo ...
