I know that name...Filix! I know that name! the teacher said. And so I felt like a criminal who hadn't even been charged or suspected of anything but felt guilty nevertheless. I sat there waiting to be accused of something for which I hadn't done. As it turned out she only knew me from a previous class which I'd chickened out of. Still it had been a bit of a fright. A bit like that moment out of the great escape when the train guards had been checking Steve McQueen's papers. Ok - it wasn't that exciting. Life is never that exciting. Actually that's not true. Sometimes even for ordinary people life can get exciting. It's just that when it does it is too much. That is not to say that my life is too interesting. Strangely enough, I am not James Bond (even though you all thought I was). There was an odd thing that happened though today. I was just schlepping around the internet as you do. Just seeing what is happening. Seeing the lie of the land, when I typed my own name in and ... WOOOOAAAH!!! There I was. My own name in a list of contributors to a magazine now long defunct. I am now officially part of computing history. It must be over 20 years now and there is my small contribution to the development of the software revolution. A small footnote on a footnote to an appendix. It is strange to think of all that time and the person who was there then. Another person who no longer exists. Sometimes I'd like to go back to that time and make other decisions. I'm sorry if this page doesn't make any sense, but I'm busy chatting, drinking wine and listening to music - and I still don't understand what JV meant all those years ago - perhaps one day she'll say ... hee, hee helaas pinderkaas enz. In some ways I shouldn't set up a web page when it's like this, but it reflects the real Filix. Veel plezier, jongens. Proost. Filix | Contact Filix |
