BASH December 2005

James Martin (BASH Press Officer) - 8 December 2005

Last Tuesday (6th December 2005) John Smith came to the BASH meeting to give us a talk which was named "A Journey around Lincolnshire Parish Churches".

John Smith had to come at short notice, as Maureen Settle, who was going to be doing the talk on the history of the Brigg Music and Drama festival had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.

John Smith presented us with a slideshow, which was very interesting and he showed us some of the beauty of Lincolnshire churches, which range from places out near Mablethorpe and Skegness, all the way back towards Market Rasen. Lots of people found this talk fascinating, and even requested that BASH have him back in the near future to give us another talk.

This was the last BASH meeting of 2005, and we are sure that next year will be even better. On the Ghost Walks, 3 separate groups tour around Brigg, each one lead by Josie Webb, Pat Parkinson and Sandra Firth.

However, as from next January/February, James Martin will also be conducting his own tour around the town, which will create 4 separate groups. James will be doing his own tours around the town because there has been more and more interest in BASH over the last year and we are having a lot more attendees at our events.

James Martin is due to be jetting to Los Angeles next year to have a taste of Hollywood, and he is staying in Beverley Hills. He will also be visiting famous movie locations in San Francisco - which is all part of his work and training in the media industry. James has planned these journeys so they do not coincide with BASH events.

At BASH meetings, some people have complained about the sound in the room, and have said that they have difficulty hearing the speaker at the front of the room. BASH would like to apologise to anybody who has had difficulty hearing at the meetings, and we have now rectified the problem by investing hundreds of pounds in a state-of-the-art audio system. Next year we also will be buying a projector, so BASH can link its laptops up to it, to enable us to show photographs and videos on a large screen.

It has been a great year for BASH and we have achieved more this year than ever before, and we would all like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The next BASH event will be held at 8pm in the Ancholme Inn, on the 3rd January 2006, and it will be a quiz night, with the questions all Brigg related.
