History of Brigg, North Lincolnshire
Jacksons Stationers and Printers
21 November 2004
My wife is the great-grandaughter of Henry (Harry) Jackson who was the last in the line of several generations of Jacksons who ran the business which folded , we believe,in the second decade of the twentieth century.Word has it that Henry might have given a little more time to the business!
Val,my wife, visited Brigg in the 1950s, and was shown the site of the printroom and shop and the house where Henry lived with his wife Henrietta and children Harry and Muriel. We last came over from Cumbria to delve into the family history in 2002 and hope to return next spring.Val would like to know for definite which was her grandmother Muriel's home (after 50 years her memory was a little hazy) .It was a detached house at the Wrawby side of Brigg. If anyone could help us to locate that house we would be very grateful.
Apparently the business used to publish a Brigg almanac. If anyone knows where we could see or even buy one, and possibly throw some light on the demise of the business , or tell us anything about the Jackson family, especially prior to the closure of the business, it will make our next trip over far more enjoyable.
