Mediaeval Pageant

The Brigg and District Community association celebrated a mediaeval pageant on the recreation ground from 10:30am through to 5pm. The packed programme which brought the middle ages to life included: the Tale of Robin Hood, a puppet show, falconry, weapons in preparation and action, medieval cooking, and a knight in shining armour.

Everyday life in a medieval village was on display. Jean and Paul are seen here cooking up a fine pottage of peas, carrots and parsnips. On the right, John the apothecary gives an excellent description of the middle ages 'health service'.
Lord John Howard of Sheffield (left) recounts his tales of a rich and varied life while medieval armourers present their wares (right).
Children were entertained by a puppet version of the George and the Dragon legend and also by a display of falconry (pictured here with a Harris Hawk and a Peregrine Falcon.
The forces of Lord Rivers and Lord John Howard do battle on Brigg Field. This event had an educational theme too, with talks and displays in the local schools before and after the pageant.
