Improve life in Brigg
Resolution: Improving Life in Brigg ...
30 January 2005
It is a new year: the time for new beginnings. Time to clear out the old and make way for the 'new improved' year to come. Those dreaded New Year's Resolutions. Time to take more exercise or to quit smoking.
Improving a whole town, though? Isn't that a bit of a tall order?? ... After all - what can one individual person do to make Brigg in 2005 a better place to live?
Yet - the answer is a positive 'Yes' - it is possible for one person to improve a town ...
An explanation. Brigg - according to the 'official view' - is made up of a concentration of roads, houses, buildings, facilities and around 5,000 residents. That is self-evident.
What is less obvious, is that a town - any town - is really made out of the combined personalities, actions, memories and relationships of each of those 5,000 residents.
Think of it. Each time you go to the shops or the pub, talk to a neighbour or friend - or just go to walk the dog - you are adding to the "life" in Brigg. If you do any of these (just once a week):
- buy something in a local shop
- visit the market on Thursday
- have a coffee in a cafe
- spend an evening in a pub
- chat to you neighbour
- stroll into town
- go to a club meeting
... you'll be doing your bit to improve Life in Brigg (and your own too). Simple really. Just by seeing or being seen. It doesn't take millions or a lot of effort - in fact it's fun ;-)
