Cricket seasonNow summer's here we are into the cricket season. No, not that game with men dressed in white, but the insect cricket gryllus domesticus. The cricket shown right was seen in Brigg out during a scorching day on a hot south facing window. The House Cricket likes heat and the hearth. It eats animals and plants - and breadcrumbs - and is associated traditionally with cheerfulness and comfort. |

Brigg house pricesSource: yorkshiretoday.co.uk 9 july 2005 House prices in the Yorkshire and Humber region have risen by 8.9% last year in contrast to lower rises in the majority of the rest of the UK. Brigg and Cleethorpes are particulary buoyant. |
High interest rates and 'affordability problems' were cited as causes of the price rise slowdown. Prices are still rising here because they have started from a relatively low value and now people from outside the area are moving here to take advantage of this difference. House price inflation is now below the rise in earnings (now 4.6%). |
