Tescos move

On the site of the former gasworks close by the River Ancholme a great deal of work has been taking place recently.

Pictured on the right is a drilling rig which is being operated by a surveying company. A survey is being undertaken to sample the site of the proposed new filling station location.

This piece of land - although it looks rather bleak and uncared for - is in fact an important historical site.

Remains of one of the oldest boats in the UK were found here. The Iron age boat was taken to Hull where it was later bombed during WWII.
