New Printing Press at Elsham

North Lincolnshire Council has granted permission to Northcliffe Newspapers to build a new £50 million print works on the Elsham Wold Industrial estate near Brigg. This is in despite of objections from Elsham Parish Council and the Environment Agency.

The new press shall be operational by the end of 2007 and shall print the Scunthorpe & Grimsby Telegraph, Hull Daily Mail and the Lincolnshire Echo as well as some editions of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.

All printing operations shall be moved from Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Hull and Lincoln with the creation of 120 print jobs at Elsham Wold. Editorial and other functions will remain in their present locations.

Celeb chefs at Fair

Brigg and Goole MP Ian Cawsey with the group MP4 has launched a new charity single 'Can't buy me love' (Beatles) which is described as:

"one minute and 59 seconds of blistering rock 'n' roll recorded as live at Whitfield Street Studios - birthplace of everything from the Clash's first album to the Spice Girls' Spice Up Your Life - and produced by legendary producer Robin Millar".

The single can be downloaded from: www.7digital.com/downloads/mp4 and costs 99p with all 99p going to Save the Children. The Prime Minister Tony Blair was the first person to download the single. MP4 have already raised over £130,000 with live charity performances at Westminster.
