Easy like Sunday morning ...

River Ancholme
Sunday morning on the River Ancholme, Brigg

It is easy to take the River Ancholme for granted. Sometimes - being an urban river - it can look a little uncared for, but it is a wonderful place to go rowing on, to walk along or just to relax beside. More about the Ancholme

Scams!

The internet is great, but there are also a lot of rogues out there looking to part you from your money. A new section on BriggLife to warn us Brigg folks about the latest scams to surface from under an (internet) stone ... more

BUGSS meeting

BUGSS - the voluntary group which organises Brigg Fair - shall be holding a second public meeting in The Angel Ballroom on Tues 11th Oct, 7.30pm, to encourage more local people to become involved in committee work, raising funds, being stewards etc. for Brigg Fair 2006.

Could those who believe they could either spare perhaps 2 hours a month for meetings, and share in events leading up and including the Brigg Fair, who need not have any skills, or so they believe this to be the case, come an join us on the BUGSS committee.

Or those who feel they would be better suited to 'Fund Raising' or as 'Stewards' on the day of each fair annually, be you able bodied or with any disability and you want to try and test yourselves, please think about what you could bring to the good of the people of Brigg and the wider communities!

BUGSS

We will also be looking for support and sponsorship from local business men and women.

Come one come all and help us make Brigg the place where you would like to be, for all the right reasons ... 'FUN'.

If all you want is to ask questions of the committee, then please come along. If all you have are ideas but can't spare the time because of work or family commitments, then PLEASE come along and talk to us ... everyone is very welcome.

How do you become a billionaire in 3 years?

Source: entireweb.com 14 September 2005

Two entrepreneurs from a former Soviet Bloc Baltic republic - Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis - have sold their internet telecommunications business Skype Technologies SA to eBay for a reported of $2.6 billion. The deal may ultimately be worth up to $4.1 billion for Niklas and Janus.

How have they done it? Three years ago the pair set up Skype - an internet based service based in Luxembourg - which allows anyone with a computer and broadband internet access to make free or extremely cheap worldwide telephone calls. The Skype service which is known as VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) has spread like wildfire and now looks to take revenues away from major telecommunications companies.

Ed. Not really a Brigg story - but it does make you think ...
