Full circle

Autumn is here once again, and nature renews itself. The picture below shows a fine crop of toadstools on the stump of a birch tree on Grammar School Road.

Tree stump

The tree may be long gone, but life 'carries on regardless'.

Top class

The school league tables are out and it appears that all of the schools in Brigg have performed well and have been praised by inspectors.

Read reports (on the BBC.co.uk website):
Brigg Sixth Form College
Sir John Nelthorpe
Vale of Ancholme
St. Mary's Catholic Primary
Brigg Primary School

Nationally there has been concern about the relatively poorer performance of schools in Maths and English with schools targeting 'easier' subjects to improve their ranking.

The future of League tables looks bleak as Wales and Northern Ireland have already abolished them, and Scotland is about to follow. It can't be long before England also abandons league tables.
