Foot & mouthLast week Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson changed the foot in his mouth when he boasted in the BBC Top Gear Magazine that he drove "fast and recklessly" through Lincolnshire because he found it "so dull". In 2003 in Lincolnshire 104 people were killed and 526 were injured on the roads. Ironically, Mr Clarkson has taught all of his children to drive; in his words so that "they won't have all this aggression inside them like all the other teenage monsters on the road". |
Despite Jeremy's best efforts at trying to boost his credibility as the most obnoxious man on TV he only achieved a ranking of '66th most disliked Briton' in a recent Channel 4 survey. In August 2004 JC was sighted in Brigg just before the Brigg Classic Car Night, but didn't make an appearance at the event - leaving the genuinely charming Tiff Needell to host. Geoff Cooper writes: I've solved your Mystery Sign quiz. Recent events make it obvious that it means: "Jeremy Clarkson ahead". |

Riverscape: Island Carr, Brigg

Riverscape from the new bridge looking out west over Island Carr along the River Ancholme
In the centre of the picture you can see the rooftops of the new Barrett housing estate which lies on the western bank of the New River Ancholme. In the foreground is the auction selling field for Peacock and Binnington - where agricultural equipment sales are held.
The Ancholme Island Carr Industrial Estate is on the centre and left of the picture and on the right is the Atherton Way Industrial Estate. The Old River Ancholme is snaking off to the north - with boats of the Glanford Boat Club visible on the left bank of the river.
