Spring time

Duck and drake
Pairing off

Spring time is officially here with the clocks going forward. The duck and drake pictured above are heading into town to set up home. Ducks have been sited as far away from the river as the Avenues area.

Incidentally - I wonder how long the ridiculous rigmarole of changing the clocks will carry on. There are at least 18 machines in my house alone which need to have their clocks reset: what a waste of time!

Norweb

We have recently inherited a grandfather clock with the words "Thos Norweb Brigg" on the face. We have been told that this is the name of the jeweller that would have sold the clock.

Can you help with any research, in order that we may date, and possibly find the manufacturer of the clock. I look forward to your reply.

Zero tolerance

There are many minor irritations in life, but Brigg people are starting to fight back against antisocial behaviour of all sorts.

No poop signs
No poop here!

The picture above shows signs which have appeared in Albert Street warning people of the presence of dog poop left by antisocial dog owners.

Channel 4 are making a documentary about local action groups.

A contributor has offered this 'distasteful' solution:

"A friend of his was so fed up finding dog poo left at the front of his house - and found a magical solution of pouring liquid Marmite, Bovril, anything that was salty in taste! What happened was the following dog that came along, GUESS? Right!"   8-//
