Maureen Glossop (Deputy mayor) chaired the meeting, as Penny Smith (Mayor) was unable to attend through illness. Councillor Nigel Sherwood was present at the meeting to represent the North Lincs Council. Town clerk, Jeanette Woollard answered questions on various topics.
One of the main topics was the dustbin collection times. Some people complaining that "the council are always changing the time and day, making things more confusing".
A resident of St Helens Rd also complained about the amount of traffic which exceeds the speed limit on his road. He demanded that something should be done about it. The town council reassured him that they have done everything in their power to respond to his complaints, and they have passed all of his letters of complaint onto the correct agencies and authorities.
The new "Drop in Night" for children and teenagers was discussed. This aims to get children off the streets at night, and encourages them to take part in fun activities in the Angel Suite. During these "Drop in Nights", youths can have a go at creating music using the instruments provided. There are many more fun activities on the night, which are all organised by various committees in Brigg. Some youths attend to just sit together and socialise with each other.
Several other topics were briefly discussed, such as the repairs which will be taking place on damaged footpaths, and the tidying up of the Millennium Green.
After the meeting, I spoke to the members of the public who attended. They told me that the meeting was a disappointment to them - because none of the "real" issues were mentioned: some of these people will be raising some issues at the next Police meeting on April 4th.
