Ancholme barrier

It has been a long time in the planning, but the construction of the new safety barrier on the Old River Ancholme through the centre of town is underway.

The new safety barrier shall be painted in the traditional colours of black and gold. One feature which has caused much comment has been the addition of the notorious 'orbs' (seen inset bottom left).

The barrier - when complete - shall run for 120 metres to the side of the Lidl supermarket (to the top-left of the picture). Safety 'grab chains' shall also be added to allow people who have fallen into the river to escape.
