£££s - Benefits

'To help you make your claim
is our aim.
You are allowed
So apply now !'

Nice ladies in the office helped me out
they knew what it was all about.
A letter soon arrived
with a cheque inside.
Thought, this will help me to survive
and suddenly I felt more alive.
Soon another letter came
starting 'With reference to your claim'
Then every day through the door
letters came by the score
all saying different amounts
and 'Please send bank account.'
As each landed on the mat
found I was kicking the cat.
This correspondence through the door
stated 'You have to pay us more
you have arrears, owe us money.'
which I thought was funny
for three months ago
didn't owe a sou.

Soon the smile turned to despair
it got so I just didn't care,
but now everything is alright
all my needs are met day and night
lovely people take me out,
run to me when I shout,
no more shopping and worry for me
I'm a lunatic you see !
It is a smashing home
tho they get annoyed when I roam
and where it costs five hundred a week
just for my keep.......

About Louisa Jane May

I have always written down my thoughts - jotting lines on scraps of paper and eventually friends suggested I make them into a book.

The verses can derive from experiences, fantasy or something I may have seen or heard or sometimes a combination.

I live in Lincolnshire and enjoy gardening, countryside, rock 'n' roll and researching my family history.

If you would like Louisa to perform a reading or workshop at your group or school, she can be contacted via email at: louisa.may1@btinternet.com or by telephone on: 01724 734 973
