Iraq - two poems

Iraq

Round and round he ran
rifle held tightly in his hand
kicking the ball
and loving it all
as laughing boys attack
a British soldier in Iraq.

The flower child

The Flower Child of yesterday
now in her garden potters away
her time her own
all day at home
so quiet except for the birds
when, she suddenly heard
music on the radio,
their song from long ago.
She stood, quite still,
WHY did it evoke such a thrill ?
Her head filled with the sound
and she danced around and around
he laughed at what she said
the moment filled her head -
then, it stopped
and she remembered,
he was dead...
