EMAIL 2006oct08 - I am trying to trace the location of a Hostel in Scawby which was used in WW2 to accomodate the overflow of Pingley Farm Camp at Brigg.

I have another at located Elsham Hall and two others were at Elsham Mount and Elsham Manor. If anybody can help identify the precise locations I would be extremely grateful.

REPLY 2007apr09 - I am not sure if you have yet found the location of the hostel in Scawby, but I have a feeling it may be what is now a childrens home - on West Street. It is now a childrens home called The Grove.

Broughton Camp

EMAIL 2007jun08 - Charles Ashley - There was another ww2 prison camp at Broughton on Ermine Street directly opposite my home. First for prisoners from Italy, then for Germans.

Can't remember a lot about it. I was very young, but one thing I do remember: they seemed to eat better than us as they were always passing food through the fence to us. Before that the camp was used for the army.
