Moving to Brigg

Saturday, 10 April 2004

Good morning!,
What an absolutely terrific website! The best "town" site I've visited - and I've visited a few as my husband and I are house-hunting all over the place. In fact your site has determined for us where we want to live (d'you know anyone with a property to rent?!) so we hope to be joining in the Brigg community very soon.

However, my main reason for writing is that I was unable to find a fitness centre or gymnasium featured in your pages. Does this mean that there isn't one or that one exists but just hasn't advertised the fact?

Also, do you know if there is a family history centre nearby?

Again, thank you for an excellent website,

Best wishes, Kay Feltham

PS. How intriguing that you have photographs of "Christmas 2004" in your pages when it's still only April!

Yours puzzled, Kay Feltham

Ed replies: Thanks for your email and the compliments. I shall need to get a larger hat as my head has just swelled a bit ;-) Still, it is good to hear that you appreciate BriggLife.

There is a council leisure centre gym on the edge of town. There is no private gym as far as I am aware. Other athletic pursuits popular here in Brigg are rowing and hockey. Once around the island (around 3-4 miles) is enough to get anyone fit!

I'm glad to read that you have decided to come to Brigg. I am sure that you won't regret it. You'll have to get in sharpish however as prices here are rocketing (approx. 30% a year) and there are very few houses left. There are some private rented houses - the estate agents (DDM and Paul Fox mainly) should have details. Another option might be a council house - there are some standing empty.

I have not heard of a family history centre. It would be a good idea. There is some talk of setting up a museum in Brigg - perhaps you could be involved??

Well spotted, Kay! The "Christmas 2004" was just a test to see how awake the visitors were ... ;-)
