Briggands in Brigg?

River Ancholme
After a much enjoyed visit to Barton upon Humber I have been told (told off!) I should have visited Brigg ... so I would like some sound information from a ... Briggonian? ...
Any info on local housing (I am a single guy looking for a two or three bed house in an area with people the same age as me....sixty) canals and narrowboats, clubs that sort of stuff...at present I am living in Southampton but originated from Cornwall and would also like to know if Brigg had anything to do with the band 'Brighouse and Rastric' (I think) who scored a hit tune with their brass band version of the Floral Dance ... the one that was spoiled by Terry Wogan!!!
Thanking you in anticipation,
Kind regards - Arthur Hitchens
Ed. Thanks for writing, Arthur. There are not too many houses available in Brigg, but there are some. There are also some council flats / houses available for over 50s.
There is a boat club here. There aren't many narrowboats though. They are mostly sports / weekend boats.
There isn't any connection with the brass band. They come from a village in Yorkshire (Brighouse). Brigg's claim to fame is the song 'Brigg Fair' which was recorded by Percy Grainger.
Incidentally, there doesn't seem to be a standard name for a Brigg person. I've heard 'Briggonian' and 'Briggensian' - but my favourite is 'Briggand' ... ;-)

Thanks for the information ... Briggand!! ... I will keep researching the area pending my visit in April and would hope soon after that I will become a resident ...
Once again, many thanks
Kind regards, Arthur Hitchens
